What we believe
We believe that God created the world and mankind to enjoy His creation with Him.
However, humans are rebellious and choose to turn their backs on God and live to serve
themselves (which the bible calls 'sin'). Ultimately, the result of sin is death (or complete
separation from God for eternity).
However, the Good News is that because of His great love for us, God devised a rescue
plan by sending Jesus Christ.
We believe Jesus, God as Man, really did come to earth, that He took the punishment we
deserved for our sin when He died on the cross and then rose from the dead. His death
and subsequent resurrection makes reconciliation or forgiveness (and an eternal
relationship with God) possible. However, it is our choice whether we receive this gift
from God or not.
A Summary of Christian belief
A summary of core Christian beliefs is expressed by the Apostles' Creed. This was
developed by the early Church and is accepted by most Christian churches (Roman
Catholic, Orthodox and the various Protestant churches). It states the central truths that
unite Christians. The Apostles' Creed reads:
"I believe in God, The Father Almighty, Creator of Heaven and Earth, and in Jesus
Christ, His only Son, our Lord. He was conceived by The Holy Spirit, born of the Virgin
Mary. He suffered under Pontius Pilate, was crucified, died and was buried. He
descended to the dead, and on the third day He rose again from the dead. He ascended
to Heaven, and sits at the right hand of God The Almighty from whence He shall come to
judge the living and the dead. I believe in The Holy Spirit, the Holy Catholic Church, the
communion of saints, the forgiveness of sins, the resurrection of the body and the life
Jesus Christ reigns as King of kings and Christians shall reign as kings with
Him throughout eternity.
